Ballet Shoes tells the story of three orphans, Pauline, Petrova and Posy, who vow to be famous.   When they are invited to join Madame Fidolia’s Academy of Performing Arts, Petrova, who would rather tinker with engines than learn to dance, tries to hide her unhappiness.  Life at the academy is full of ups and downs and we see the different paths the children take. Pauline grows into an acting star and quite the prima donna; Posy is taken under the wing of a wonderful ballet teacher and rather unexpectedly Petrova embarks on an adventure with her Great Uncle Matthew.
