London Children’s Ballet is an Arts Award Supporter
This means that LCB offers activities, events, expertise or resources which help young people working towards their Arts Award. (hyperlink to http://www.artsaward.org.uk) Arts Awards encourage anyone up to the age of 25 to explore, develop from, and be inspired by the arts.
Things that you can do with LCB when working towards various levels of Arts Awards:
- Attending the annual production in the West End
- Auditioning for LCB. Successful applicants are then a part of either the annual West End production or the LCB Tours (which visit local care homes, hospices, and SEN schools). Applicants not offered places in either company are offered the opportunity to attend a Masterclass with a professional dancer (for girls) or a series of classes with a male teacher (for boys).
- Being a part of a Ballet in a Box ™ programme with a local dance school. Ballet schools around the UK can join the Ballet in a Box ™ programme which emulates the LCB touring model and gives independent schools access to LCB choreography and music in return for visiting the care homes, hospices, and SEN schools in their local areas.
- Attending the annual production as a part of the Ballet for £1 scheme with your school and participating in the in-school workshop. Resources are provided for teachers to enable them to make the most of the visit before and after the trip to the theatre.
